Free call schedule maker

Pick your specialty, add your people and choose a month. The same scheduler that runs VitalScheduler builds that month's call schedule in about 15 seconds, with nights, weekends and holidays split evenly and everyone's days off kept free. No sign-up, and nothing you type is saved.

1. Your specialty

2. Who's on the schedule

Names are optional. Initials or "Dr A" work fine.

3. Which month

How the schedule maker works

Each specialty starts from VitalScheduler's preset for it: the rotations a typical group covers, how many people each needs, and the rules that keep the month livable. In emergency medicine nobody works a day shift the morning after a night. In anesthesia and OB/GYN the day after a 24-hour call is free. Weekends, nights and holidays count for more points than a weekday, so the hard shifts are what gets split evenly, not just the number of shifts.

Days off you add are treated the way approved vacation is in the product: the scheduler never puts that person on those days. Part time people carry a share in proportion to their FTE.

What it doesn't do on its own is know your group. In VitalScheduler every rotation and rule is yours to change, each provider enters their own requests (days they'd like off, days they'd like to work) before the month is built, and the finished schedule goes to everyone's phone calendar. If you keep a schedule in a spreadsheet today, attach it in setup and VitalScheduler drafts your rotations and rules from it.

Questions

Is the call schedule maker free?
Yes. There's nothing to sign up for and no limit on how many specialties or months you try. It builds one month at a time. To keep a schedule, collect everyone's requests and build the months after it, start a VitalScheduler trial: 60 days free, no card.
Is anything I type saved?
No. The names, tags and days off go to our server only to build the month, which happens in memory and is thrown away once the schedule is sent back to you. Initials or placeholders like "Dr A" work just as well as real names.
Can I download the schedule?
Yes, as a CSV file with one row per day and one column per rotation. It opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
Is this a call schedule template?
It's the step after a template: instead of a blank grid to fill in by hand, you get the month filled in, with the hard shifts split evenly and the days off kept free.
What if my group's rotations are different?
The presets are a starting point. In VitalScheduler you can change every rotation, count and rule, add your own, or attach the spreadsheet you keep today and have the rotations and rules drafted from it.
Does it book patient appointments?
No. It schedules the providers: call, shifts and clinic sessions. Patient booking stays in your practice management system.
